Joey Scholfield

I trained in ceramics at West Surrey College of Art and Design, after which I co-ran a small industrial pottery producing high end promotional and commerative ware for large companies. This led onto working for Maureen Minchin pottery as her general assistant, and later as a colourist decorating her sgrafitto slip ware. With an interest in Folk Art, I studied Rag Rug making with Ali Rhind. The use of recycled materials and instant colour suited my purpose. Rug making enabled me to think in a painterly way about image making. My rugs and cushions are available in a variety of shapes and sizes. The designs are abstract or figurative. The process is called Hooking. I am happy to work to commission and run workshops. 2015 is the start of a move back into ceramics, influenced by my textile work. Email: ivimey2@googlemail.com
